about

Our recording process was super simple, for drums we did a 57 on kick, a behind the head condenser and a 58 on the snare. Bass was just mic'ed with the 58 from a few feet in front of the cab. Guitar was mic'ed the same way, but I was going through my pedal board for reverb and dirt and such. The vox were done with the same cheap ebay condenser as the drums, but I ran it through a tube preamp and my pedal board for compression eq and reverb. I had the drums all bounced to track 4, and kept 1,2 and 3 open so the bass, guitar and vox could be tweaked at mixdown.

We bounced everything into logic at the end, and the only "cheats" I did was a 4 band compressor and a little eq. Besides that, when I was running the tape into logic, I was automating a lot of the knobs by hand. For instance, everytime Kev hit the toms, I had to make sure the bass was pinned to zero, then back up to normal when he hit the kick. Also killing the bass on the vox at certian points because I forgot to use a screen in front of the mic. Plosives for days!

Just now, I dumped everything into a mastering site called Landr. Which made everything sound way more polished.
